Reflecting on Our Membership

05 August 2025

How we’re learning from you to build a stronger, more tailored community for music managers at every stage.

Every year, our membership becomes increasingly varied, and that’s something we truly value at the MMF. We exist to champion and support music managers, recognising that no two members’ careers or businesses look the same.

We’re sharing this update on how we’ve been reflecting as an organisation, and to let you in on some of the thinking that’s shaping our next steps.

We’ve taken a detailed look at who our members are, what you need, and how we can better support you at every stage of your career.

Through our market research, member interviews, and surveys, we found that the three big segments of our membership are:

  • Emerging: those who are just starting, new to the world of management and eager for guidance.
  • Growing: Those building momentum and starting to earn an income from management with a focus on building their networks and businesses.
  • Professional: The final third are established, running management companies professionally and some with teams.

This variety is exactly what makes our community so strong. But, it also means that a one-size-fits-all approach to membership doesn’t always work.

We’re busy working on changes that will give members a less standardised, tailored experience, with resources, benefits, networks and opportunities that adapt as you grow. These changes will focus on  your career stage and not your age. We’ll be sharing all the details very soon.

For now, we wanted to let you know that our goal is to support not just you, but also your teams, colleagues, and companies, creating a clearer pathway for professional progression where every manager can thrive.
