Important: PPL launch new Eligible Producer Form

18 July 2012

There has been much debate about the role of producers and their entitlement to equitable remuneration for the recordings they have produced.

We have taken part in the consultation that PPL have undertaken over the past year and the new  Eligible Producer Form has just been launched. You can read all about it and download a copy here:

http://www.ppluk.com/studioproducers

It is the MMFs considered view that all creators should share in income from each track if they are eligible and this form helps make entitlement clear.

We strongly advise all MMF members to understand the form, the processes that accompany it and for their artists to understand them too. All parties entering a studio should be aware of the processes that will happen and this includes the role of the producer and what this means for your artist.

We advise that any negotiation should happen between the manager and the producer before entering the studio so that an artist is signing the form in full knowledge as to what it means and it acts as confirmation that a producer is entitled to Equitable Remuneration as are any performers on the track.

If you need further information call or e-mail the MMF office.
