“How Did You Manage That?” A New Podcast About Artist Management, Produced by Ally McCrae, Sophie Paluch, the MMF & Sponsored by AWAL

24 April 2019

Ally McCrae and Sophie Paluch launch new ten-part podcast series about the secrets of music management. “How Did You Manage That?” produced in partnership with the Music Managers Forum, and sponsored and supported by AWAL, kicks off Wednesday April 24th – featuring an exclusive one-hour interview with The 1975’s manager Jamie Oborne (All On Red)

Ally McCrae (BBC producer and manager of Old Sea Brigade and Prides) and Sophie Paluch (Blueprint Pods & Radio/San Remo) have today launched a new ten-part podcast series, aiming to delve into the secrets and art of music management.

Produced in partnership with the Music Managers Forum (MMF), and sponsored and supported by AWAL, “How Did You Manage That?” kicks off with an exclusive hour-long interview with All On Red founder Jamie Oborne – candidly tracing The 1975 manager’s journey in music, from being a fledgling artist himself, to building a global business, nurturing creative relationships and navigating worldwide success.

Subsequent episodes, which will be made available every two weeks, promise interviews with a diverse selection of both established and upcoming managers across all genres – exploring cutting edge approaches to business, advice on breaking new acts, and personal highlights and low points.

Ally McCrae said:

“The goal of these podcasts is simple. We wanted to get inside the minds of the most innovative and respected music managers on the planet. We want to find out what makes them tick, what goes on behind the scenes, and the secrets of their success. But we wanted to do it in a low-key, intimate and informative way. How Did You Manage That? is like an hour down the pub, in the company of the most inspirational individuals in contemporary music.”

Sophie Paluch added:

“We’re both hugely indebted for the support of both AWAL and the MMF to make this podcast happen. The role of the music manager has never been as important as it is today, and How Did You Manage That? will offer an incredible insight into the challenges and rewards of being a manager today all wrapped up with some great stories and laughs along the way.”

“How Did You Manage That?” is available here, and is on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.
