MMF publishes diversity statement

15 September 2017

The Music Managers Forum is committed to reflecting and representing the wider community of UK Managers.

We are a diverse organisation and challenge ourselves to ensure that this is hardwired into everything that we do.  We have much to be proud of our membership is 35% female and 15% Black and Ethnic backgrounds and we are aiming to increase this as we expand year on year.

We recognise that music management is a distinctive career path drawing people from very different backgrounds.  Therefore, our goal is to be inclusive and representative of all managers, helping to support them in an environment that is an incubator for great ideas, attractive to join, and that creates a sense of pride across our membership.

Our diversity and inclusion efforts will therefore focus on:

  • Attracting new members by proactively engaging with managers from different ages, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, disability, socio-economic backgrounds, musical genres and regions of the UK.
  • Ensuring the MMF represents this wider management community in our education programme, strategy and advocacy. We are aiming to ensure managers are fully represented across the MMF by reviewing our current membership profiles and encouraging under-represented groups to join the MMF, become part of our policy-making process and to join our Board.  We now rotate a third of the board each year to ensure that there are regular opportunities to get involved.
  • Engaging with the wider music industry in a way that reflects and respects their unique perspectives and experiences, putting forward a diverse selection of managers to speak publicly.

Our diversity and inclusion objectives, and progress towards achieving them, will be assessed annually to ensure they align with our objectives.
