The Artist and Manager Awards 2014 Sponsored by Spotify: Peter Grant and Pioneer Award Recipients Announced

20 February 2014

The MMF is pleased to announce that Paul Loasby has been awarded the prestigious Peter Grant Award for artists’ management. Paul’s career included being a social secretary and promoter before starting his artist management career in 1986. He currently manages Jools Holland, David Gilmour (both solo and as part of Pink Floyd), the Syd Barrett estate, Deacon Blue and Ruby Turner as part of his One-Fifteen company.

MMF Chairman Brian Message said “ Paul has been a long time MMF member and supporter of artists rights and we are delighted to present this award to him”.

The Artist and Manager Awards will return in its third incarnation at the Troxy on April 3rd 2014 and will again be sponsored by Spotify.

The Pioneer Award for exceptional individuals who are forging new paths in the music industry has been awarded to creative social music entrepreneur Ruth Daniel. Ruth’s altruistic approach to building communities  in the grassroots, global music industry has been inspiring. She founded Unconvention which “doesn’t believe in ‘do it yourself’. We believe in ‘do it together’  “.

FAC Board Member Martyn Ware commented  “When the whirlwind that is Ruth Daniel entered my life, I was overwhelmed by the energy, commitment, determination and sheer chutzpah with which she conducts her innovative and trailblazing work. She is a shining example of how to make ideas reality by simply doing them, and I am in awe of her energy and her humanitarian heart. In short, this award could not go to a more deserving person.
