Short-term ‘Letter of Engagement’ for Managers

28 September 2011

In response to popular demand, we’ve just added a template for a short-term “letter of engagement” between managers and new clients to the Documents section, as devised previously by the MMF.

In order for a music industry agreement to be enforced by the courts, it is widely believed that an artist must receive advice from a specialist music industry lawyer. However, this template is simple enough to be understood by artists and therefore should be enforceable by the courts. The template is intended as a short term solution only and the MMF Copyright and Contracts sub-committee have advised that the period of the agreement should not exceed 18 months – 2 years.
