Patreon connects with UK managers through new Associate Partnership with the MMF

13 January 2021

The Music Managers Forum is delighted to announce an all-new Associate partnership with global membership platform Patreon

The partnership will enable the MMF’s community of more than 1,000 UK-based managers to join exclusive events and training with Patreon’s UK team, gaining deeper insights about how their creators can successfully utilise the platform, build fan communities and generate a recurring monthly income stream. The first of these activities is scheduled for 17th February as part of the MMF’s Virtual Manager Meetup series.

Launched in 2013, Patreon is a membership platform that makes it easy for creators to run a subscription service and get paid regularly, reliably and fairly for the rewards and perks they offer to their fans.

To date, Patreon has paid out over $2 billion (USD) to creators globally. In the UK alone, more than £50 million was paid out to creators in 2020; while payouts to UK musicians nearly quadrupled last year, and are expected to grow significantly as more artists, music makers and DJs develop communities on the platform.

Those already successfully using Patreon include While She Sleeps, Jordan Rakei, Zola Jesus Amanda Palmer, Jacob Collier (Quincy Jones Management), MIA, Kate Nash (Red Light Management), Gary Numan, KT Tunstall, Lewis Watson (Red Light Management) and KOAN Sound.

Gee Linford-Grayson, Creator Partnerships at Patreon, said:

“We’re excited to partner with the MMF as it allows us to directly engage with the artist management community with what Patreon has to offer. We look forward to building on our established partnerships with artists to find new ways to monetise their work during this period of rapid change in the music industry.”

Annabella Coldrick, Chief Executive, MMF, said:

“The MMF’s Associate programme enables artist-focussed music and technology businesses to interact closely with our membership, and for our growing community of music managers to gain first-hand insights and expertise from these companies. Patreon is proving to be enormously empowering for artist and creator businesses and we are hugely excited to have them onboard the programme, particularly at this present time, and look forward to our first event together on February 18th.”

Gee Patreon MMFGee Linford-Grayson looks after Patreon’s Creator Partnerships in the UK & Ireland and would be happy to talk with any managers curious about an additional revenue stream and fan space for their artists. Patreon is a membership platform which makes it simple for musicians to get paid by their fans, through offering more direct connection, bonus material, behind the scenes content and more. Gee has worked with hundreds of creators to help them launch successful memberships on Patreon, including Jordan Rakei and While She Sleeps- she’d love to chat with anyone interested in learning more about Patreon for their artists.
