‘Managing for Disruptive Innovation’: Henley Business School.

February 24th 2015

10am – 4.30pm

Disruptive innovation is running rampant. Virtually every industry has felt its effect. The music and creative industries, in particular, have experienced the ‘perfect storm’ of disruptive forces, including digital technology and generational changes in consumption. It has been open season for market entrants – legal or illegal. But, disruption is transforming the entire creative industries sector, from TV, Media, Publishing and Music to the broader spectrum of ‘the arts’. This is happening on a global scale – new platforms, business models and access to data bring constant change.

Disruption is the subject of the latest in the ‘Creative Dynamics’ series at Henley Business School.

How should you view disruption? As a new competitive challenge forcing a healthy revamp of your business model and customer proposition? Or as something to block, avoid or buy into through acquisition? You might not know what’s coming, but you still need to be prepared. Disruption doesn’t happen overnight and is often not difficult to do.
What sort of leadership capabilities are required, and how are they effectively mobilised, to capture new opportunities brought to market by disruptors? How well is the sector “Managing for Disruptive Innovation”? This event will bring together an exciting array of speakers, scholarly research around strategic capabilities, and of course provide dynamic discussion!

The event is delivered in association with KAE (http://kae.com/)

Speakers:

  • Professor George Tovstiga
  • Keith Jopling – Senior VP, KAE
  • Mark Popkiewicz – CEO Mirriad
  • Will Page – Chief Economist Spotify
  • Simon Presswell – Music & Entertainment Entrepreneur (Former CEO, Ticketmaster)
  • Ben Drury – Chief Strategy Officer, 7 Digital.
