Manager Spotlight: Terry Ferguson

19 February 2025

The Manager Spotlight offers a small insight into the heads of incredible managers. This week in the spotlight is 2024 Accelerator Programme participant, Terry Ferguson!

Where are you based?

London. I’m a proud E17 resident and going to have an office space in a fancy new recording studios being built down the road in Dalston – 160DL Studios

How long have you worked in Management?

11 years now.

Who do you manage now?

ABSOLUTE. / ABSOLUTE. x Dot Major present NIGHT manoeuvres / Bimini / Kosmo Kint / Mia Lily / Narciss / Rio Tashan

Where did you find your first client and what inspired you to take them on?

The first artist I managed solo was Ewan McVicar – he sent me a folder of unreleased music and the rest was history!

What does a good day at work look like for you?

When my artists message or call me about something we are working on that they can’t quite believe is real. An e.g. is when I told Narciss recently they were going to be remixing Moby – Natural Blues. They sent me the most beautiful messages, and a video of them opening the stems folder – with tears of joy. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me seeing my artists so happy. That’s why I do what I do.

What has been the highlight of your management career to date?

Definitely starting my own company. I founded TURBO MGMT in Feb last year and am incredibly lucky to have built my dream roster of artists who are all not only hugely talented, but also the most amazing people. We’ve created a real family environment. It’s such a joy to be a part of.

What do you think are the big challenges for a manager in 2024?

Clubs closing at an staggering rate in the UK. George from Save Our Scene told me this week that “37% of UK nightclubs have closed in 4 years due to operating costs, rents & utilities being through the roof as well as the cost of living pinching punters pockets. Grassroots venues made an average of 0.4% profit in 2024, 43% operating at a loss” – something has to change.

What music are you currently listening to?

Of course all of my roster, we have incredible music coming this year. Bimini’s first single of the year is out on Sony Relentless end Feb swiftly followed by Narciss’ collab EP with Gerd Janson on Running Back. Outside of my roster – Holysseus Fly… watch this space, she’ll be on the Pyramid stage one day! Holly is the vocalist and songwriter from Ishmael Ensemble and recently started her solo journey. She has Lauren Laverne as one of her biggest fans and was The Guardian’s ‘One to watch’ a few months ago. She’s the perfect balance of Pop Princess + Electronic Empress. Have a listen to ‘Out Of This World!’

Why would you recommend the MMF?

I literally can’t speak highly enough of the MMF. I was selected as one of the Accelerator managers last year just as I set up TURBO MGMT. I started with one artist and now have a full roster. The support I received from both the MMF team and the other managers has been incredible. I’m going for coffee with YouTube’s Global Head of Music next week thanks to the MMF. The biggest thank you to Paul, Annabella and Laura for everything you do… legends!
