Remembering Meredith Cork
The MMF are shocked and heartbroken to have lost Meredith Cork, a great friend and much-loved veteran music manager.
Meredith passed away suddenly with a cerebral aneurysm whilst on holiday. We join the outpouring of love and gratitude from across the music industry and wider world.
Meredith was a creative force of nature. She was the founding manager of Garbage. She managed Marcella Detroit, Dot Alison, Womack & Womack, Glen Matlock, Right Said Fred and producers Butch Vig and Jimmy Miller while also nurturing new emerging acts.
Garbage: ‘Our band would literally not exist had it not been for her tenacity, encouragement, hard work and love’.
She was founder of Yellow Brick Music and a major force and personality as joint proprietor and host of the fabulous Eats ‘n’ Beats restaurant in Ramsgate. Meredith was the boldest, funniest and kindest mentor to young, creative talent. The giver of spontaneous hugs, a compassionate spirit, wicked sense of humour and lover of mischief, she lit up the room with her infectious positivity and made every event shine.
This friend and legend championed and supported me when I became Chair of the MMF and, as another female artist manager, was a constant ally. Meredith was fearless and gave 100% to those she cared for.
We send our deepest condolences and love to Keith, their son Sam and to Sarah, Meredith’s partner.
We will cherish very happy memories and value the legacy of this fabulous lady.
