FAC + CMU:DIY present Artist:Entrepreneur Day

05 June 2018

Nadine Shah, Femme, Eckoes and Roxanne De Bastion host Artist:Entrepreneur day on Monday 11th June at the Islington Assembly Hall in London, in association with the FAC and CMU:DIY – part of the Mayor of London’s Sounds Like London Campaign. Imogen Heap is also set to join the conversation during the event.

The event is an artist-to-artist education programme which provides practical tips and advice for aspiring artists and future industry leaders on how to build a career and a business around music. They do this by opening up their own artist businesses and explaining how they have built a brand, grown a fanbase and generated revenue around their music.

The team will be joined by music industry experts who will also provide tips galore. Taking part in the London edition are Beckie Sugden (X-Ray Touring), Sammy Andrews (Deviate), Roisin Brophy (PPL), Gee Davy (AIM) and Sophie Little (BBC Introducing), with more to be announced. CMU’s Chris Cooke will also present five A:E Guides as part of the proceedings, while representatives from sponsors AIM, PPL and Resonate will also be on hand to answer questions.

Why sign up to the event?

• Any artist who wants to make a living out of their music today needs to think like a small business. Which means, once you have some songs written and tracks recorded, it’s time to start getting the business side sorted.

• The Artist:Entrepreneur Day from FAC and CMU:DIY is a practical guide to building a long-term career and sustainable business around your music.

• With knowledge shared artist-to-artist, you’ll hear and learn from fellow artist entrepreneurs who will let you inside their careers and their businesses throughout the day, explaining: how they make and monetise their music, how they built and evolved a brand, how they found and engaged a fanbase, and how they decided which suppliers and business partners to work with along the way.

• The Artist:Entrepreneur Day also includes five Artist:Entrepreneur Guides from CMU:DIY. Together they provide all the basic information you need on five different aspects of the music business, including: revenue streams, music rights, gigging, digital channels and business partners.

• PLUS hear from leading experts in the music industry – including labels, publishers, collecting societies, promoters, agents, managers, lawyers and digital experts – find out what they do, what they offer artists, and when and how you might want to get them on board.
