New Year message from our new Chief Executive

04 January 2016

Dear Members,

Today is my first day as Chief Executive of MMF so I wanted to start by wishing you a Happy New Year and letting you know a bit about my plans and how you can get involved. 2016 is going to be a critical year as digital revenues overtake physical and streaming becomes increasingly important for the industry. Our membership has hit record levels in 2015 with over 450 artist managers in the UK and we are increasingly building our network and influence in the USA and globally. We represent you in discussions with UK Music, PRS, PPL and the wider music industry and we aim to be increasingly influential with policy makers and politicians in the coming year.

MMF and the team have achieved a great deal under Jon’s term as CEO, growing our revenues and getting the issues around streaming and transparency through ‘Dissecting the Digital Dollar’ onto the industry agenda. This year we will build on this to ensure our views are also heard by policy makers working closely with the Featured Artists Coalition as the European copyright rules are reformed so that artists and their managers get a fair share of the increasing streaming revenues. Please do join our debates in the first quarter of this year to ensure we represent all our members. Jon will still be working with the MMF as President and will be focusing on the success of our new investment programme (SEED EIS) and growing our network of associates supporting our work at home and abroad.

I would like to meet as many of you as possible over the next couple of months to understand the day-to-day issues impacting your business. I would like to hear your views on MMF can help new managers develop their skills, provide practical advice on issues such as access to finance, build your networks as well as advocating on your behalf.

Please let me know if you are passing through Kings Cross at any point and I would be more than happy to meet for a coffee. My MMF email is annabella@themmf.net.

I look forward to working with you all and increasing the impact and reach of MMF on behalf of music managers and your artists.

Best,

Annabella.
