Independent Venue Week Launches

30 November 2013

From the press release:

The backbone of the live touring circuit is finally getting some much needed recognition with the launch of Independent Venue Week supported by PRS for Music.

The 6 day long celebration takes place from Tuesday 28th January until Sunday 2nd February at 18 venues around the UK. Each night, 3 of the venues will host a gig, some in partnership with BBC Introducing, indie labels or blogs putting on some of the most exciting new talent around.

There’s plenty of showcase events in the music calendar that take place around the country supporting new artists in a bid to give them much needed exposure. We’ve even seen events supporting record shops and independent record labels.

Independent Venue Week puts the venues that are the lifeblood of bands touring in the early stages of their careers and the local community of music fans firmly on the map. The venues taking part are some of the most relevant, important and historic venues around the country.

With more and more small to medium sized venues continuing to close around the country, Independent Venue Week supports venues that play such a significant role to musicians and fans alike.
