Last week, the Music Managers Forum and Featured Artists Coalition headed to Berlin to discuss digital music in a series of panels and presentations with a large group of German and International managers and artists.
The event was hosted by Google and topics covered included artist successes with digital, featuring conversation from Travis frontman, Fran Healy, German/British artist Roxanne De Bastion and ex-MD of Universal Germany and producer Tim Renner, as well as debate on the future of digital music distribution with digital giants YouTube, SoundCloud and Spotify.
A presentation from Pledge Music on fan relationship analysis and crowdfunding was backed up by presentations from YouTube, Google+ and Google’s SEO and Analytics team who gave superb insights into connecting with audiences and monetising online presences.
Also discussed was the importance of artist organisations and representation on Collective Management Organisations with Meik Michalke, chairman of new German collecting society C3S, challenging the ideal that artists now only live to create and must be engaged in wider industry debates.
Brian Message and DJ, Jonty Skrufff joined others on stage for the final wrap up panel to look at the future of the digital rights landscape.
The MMF would like to thank all the speakers and guests for attending and also all the Googlers who helped make the event such a success.
