TICKET TO RIDE: GETTING PRIMARY TICKETS BACK INTO THE HANDS OF FANS – DEC 05

MusicTank’s final think tank of 2012 is a special extended event, dedicated to one of this year’s most contentious issues: ticketing.

The secondary ticketing debate, that has raged for over a decade, is at something of a crossroads – a significant proportion of the industry have continued to voice their frustration for intervention whilst Government has shown no desire to interfere in the workings of an unregulated free market. And, all the while, online secondary sites are booming.

So…where do we go from here?

SUMMIT LINE UP:

Part 1 considers innovation in the primary market. Christiaan Munro, Sandbag, will present a case study of Radiohead’s recent world tour, its aims and lessons learned.  Keynote speaker Dave Newton, We Got Tickets will be joined by Songkick’s Dan Rogers – in charge of their innovative Detour/ crowd-funding project, and Topspin (speaker tba).

Part 2  looks at regulation, beginning with a keynote by PRODISS – the French organisation which has campaigned for legislative change in the French market.  Ben Turner, AIM and Bestival festivals, which set up the The Ticket Trust alongside Sandbag and recently launched a Fair Ticketing Charter, will join Richard Marks, Scarlet Mist consumer specialist Caitlin Graham, Which?

Both panels will be moderated by MusicTank Chairman Keith Harris.

In the wake of the Dispatches revelations (aka ‘The Great Ticket Scandal’), Government inaction, and the continued growth of online secondary sites, this event intends to move the debate on – not only in terms of potential legislation, but also opportunities to innovate in the primary market.

The secondary market is booming because the primary market is failing.  This extended MusicTank debate intends to help it get back on track!
