Since 2018 the MMF has been working in partnership with various third level music business courses, building connectivity between student education and the music management sector.

Today it announces recipients of its inaugural MMF Student Trailblazer Award. This accolade recognises one promising student from each MMF Educational Associate partner who has shown enterprise and enthusiasm for music management in the past twelve months. This award celebrates students who have engaged meaningfully in their music industry studies and helps nurture the connectivity between course content, the music management community and the wider music industry at large.

Students from ACM, Point Blank University, Tileyard Education and Middlesex University will benefit from this unique opportunity and recognition of the MMF Student Trailblazer Award.

The four MMF Student Trailblazer Award recipients will receive a selection of exclusive opportunities, including tickets to the Artist & Manager Awards 2021.

Middlesex University student Antonia Lyall started CPO Management & Consultancy in 2020 during lockdown. Since then, she has focused on artist development, content creation and distribution, as well as consulting other music managers and creating bespoke release strategies for established & upcoming musicians.

Lewis Smith, student at ACM created his own Management Company, Slickr Management and also working for Brutalist Management, managing the likes of Legss, Yowl and Chaos in The Tea House.

Point Blank student and founder of management company JUST A.M. Jasmine Thrasybule manages two artists – Native to the Parish and Eboni Rae alongside her studies.

Thando Zulu, student at Tileyard Education and manager of BEKA, Joel Baker and JERUB has seen recent success with BEKA’s debut single securing Clash’s Track of the Day and Wonderland New Noise feature and being chosen as the BBC introducing Track of The Week in Feb 2021…”. BEKA’s most recent release ‘My One’ has gathered strong support across various DSPs with multiple NMF’s on Spotify, Apple – New Music Daily, Amazon – Fresh Pop and Deezer – Brand New UK editorial playlists”.

Annabella Coldrick, MMF Chief Executive commented:

“Over the past 4 years we have worked hard to build our connectivity between the MMF and education associates, through partnering with universities and offering students additional opportunities to bolster their learning. We noticed many exciting managers coming through and being proactive alongside their university studies. Through meeting students we felt compelled to recognise and encourage this. Congratulations to the MMF’s first set of “Trailblazers” Lewis, Jasmine, Antonia and Thando and thanks to our partners at ACM, Point Blank, Tileyard and Middlesex University.”
