Manager Spotlight: Sam McGlynn

19 September 2024

The manager spotlight offers a small insight into the heads of incredible managers. This week in the spotlight is Sam McGlynn!

How long have you worked in Management?

5 years.

Who do you manage now?

Aby Coulibaly @Abycoulibaly
Cardinals @Cardinalsband_
Ghostly Kisses @Ghostlykisses

Where did you find your first client and what inspired you to take them on?

My first management client was built upon an agent (previous role) to artist relationship I had with them – I was always very nosey & wanted to be more involved in the planning & delivering music to the world.

What does a good/bad day at work look like for you?

A good day looks like everything being in state-flow – if there’s an issue there’s a solution & you work towards sorting. A bad day looks like more & more problems – that you can’t unravel at the same time.

What has been the highlight of your management career to date?

The highlight of my career thus far is working with great people in the industry. Management is forever evolving & great people make the 24 hr clock worth it. It’s nice to be important but I believe it’s more important to be nice.

A few highlights from 2024:

Ghostly Kisses touring the Middle East & seeing thousands of fans connect with the band and their music – currently at Azimuth festival in Alula, KSA.
Cardinals supporting Kings Of Leon in Marlay park + selling out dates on their debut headline e.p. Tour
Aby Coulibaly supporting Coldplay in Croke Park x 4 + going on stage with the band.

What do you think are the big challenges for a manager in 2024?

Work-life balance.

Why would you recommend the MMF?

You’re not alone. MMF offers you support.

What music are you currently listening to?

Playlist

Most recent gig: Keinemusik @ Finsbury park
