As part of our Dissecting The Digital Dollar project, help us achieve more transparency in streaming by applying the MMF Transparency Index to the labels and distributors you work with.
MMF recently published ‘The Transparency Guide’, which identifies 20 pieces of data and information managers need to receive from their label and distribution partners in order to fully audit and understand the individual streaming businesses of each of their artists.
We are now inviting managers to review each of the labels and distributors they work with to ascertain which of these 20 pieces of data and information each business partner is currently providing. You can input this information for each business partner via the form below.
Using this information, MMF will be able to assess how transparent – or not – the streaming business is in 2018. We will use this information to celebrate the most transparent business partners, and to feedback to other labels and distributors about what they can do to be improve their transparency rating. We will also use this data to inform the wider transparency debate and to put pressure on the music industry at large to share ever more data and information with artists.
You will need to fill out this form separately for each of the labels and distributors you work with. Ideally you will have access to all and any usage and royalty portals or documents your labels or distributors provide you with, so that you can see all the data that is being shared. With deal information (15-20 on the form), you may need to check what information has been provided to any of your colleagues that have an ongoing relationship with each and any business partner.
Your involvement in this process is confidential. When we report back to the industry and specific labels and distributors, we will not reveal who reviewed each business partner. We ask for your name, company and contact information only so we can verify who you are and come back to you with any questions we might have.
