We are entertainment business advisers, taking care of business for our clients around the world.
We have a number of departments, specialising in areas of music industry accountancy and taxation. These include: Royalties, Touring, Producers and Writers, Business Services, Tax, and Statutory Audit.


Our Royalties department handles the daily accounting and compliance requirements for record labels and publishing companies of various sizes, including the preparation of artist royalty accounting using specialist software. We have invested heavily in software and servers to ensure we can handle significant amounts of information as part of our payment compliance review processes.
We also have a team of royalty specialists to advise on all aspects of copyright including: royalty tracking and audit, deal appraisal and negotiation, memberships and registrations. We are also able to provide valuations of catalogues for finance purposes.
Brand licencing is a growing field of income for Brand owners and one which requires careful administration and review. Our team are able to offer assistance with regard to Brand licensing including income tracking and valuations.


It is the life cycle of the tour that we excel and enjoy most of all. We assist in the budget preparation, the mitigation of withholding tax at the contractual front end, the business management during the tour, the tour accounting and variance analysis, and the utilisation of the tax withheld at the back end. This requires a strong technical knowledge of international tax legislation which the Touring and Tax department at CC Young excel at.
We work with the manager, agent and promoter at the planning stage of a tour to ensure the correct business structure and contractual arrangements are implemented from the outset. We prepare accurate and timely reporting which ensure effective financial control during the tour.


Our Producers department work closely with producers and their managers, specialising in tracking producer catalogues and reviewing recouped positions on a track-by-track basis, as well as handling their daily accounting and compliance requirements. We operate a specialised review process to ensure royalties are paid including reviewing registration with collection societies to ensure accuracy of entries and payment. We have specialists with frontline experience in royalty collection able to advise on the most cost effective registration for international collection of income. Contractual matters are for the legal profession but we are able to assist with ensuring that the accounting and tax aspects are all viable.


Our Business Services department undertakes the daily accounting and compliance requirements for a broad range of clients, including artist managers, promoters, composeres, film producers and actors. We are experienced in dealing with international issues for our clients and in providing viable cost effective business structures and solutions. We are able to assist clients in preparing for, negotiating and delivering mergers and acquisitions.


Our tax team are experienced in providing effective compliance and bespoke planning for entertainers. We are aware that taxation is not just about tax but carries reputational risks for clients. Our aim is to provide a safe tax environment for our clients so that they are not the target of the tax authorities. Where clients have interests in more than one territory we offer co-ordinated international tax planning and compliance. It is important that international entertainers are able to collect the income due to them from around the world with the least amount of tax attaching to it but in a safe and secure manner. We have ex HMRC members in our tax team with front line experience of dealing with HMRC. Our tax team also has direct experience in the entertainment industry so we understand our clients and their accounting and tax needs.

The Audit department has an extensive knowledge of the music industry as well as other sectors. Our audits are carried out in accordance with the International Standards on Auditing and are tailored to ensure minimum disruption to our clients’ businesses whilst ensuring that they are as productive as possible. Our approach ensures that we are able to provide advice and recommendations that are of real practical benefit.
